Woodthorpe Tennis Club Open Day

Here at Woodthorpe Tennis Club, we held an Open Day in early September.  It was timed to coincide with the start of the new school term, as On The Ball Coaching (OTBC) embarked on their autumn coaching programme and attracted many families to try tennis for the first time, as well as some adults who admitted to being “rusty rackets”.

It was really encouraging to see the courts buzzing with 48 guests who attended despite the weather which was by no means the best. A bit of drizzle doesn’t stop anything at Woodthorpe though. Some volunteers assisted the OTBC team with the on court activities while others provided and served the drinks and array of delicious cakes in the clubhouse.

Everyone was very keen to hear about what the club has to offer in terms of membership and the coaching programme. Following on from the day, 10 adults signed up for our beginners / rusty rackets short course offer. Other junior and adult attendees took up the offer of a taster group coaching session and are now part of the regular coaching programme.
