The Jack Britton Trophy

Well done to the 16 players who competed in yesterday's event at Nottingham Trent University.

Congratulations to Charlie Woods from Cheshire, who came in as a late reserve for the injured Maxwell Pateman to win the 2024 event.

On his route to the final, Charlie overcame Max McKay (Derbyshire), Billy Morley (Notts) and in the semi-final a 10-7 match deciding tie-break win against Elijah Killen-Smith (Notts).

In the other half of the draw, Ben Avery (Notts) lost a tight semi-final to No1 seed Nishant Pankesh (Leics).

In the final, Charlie Woods beat Nishant Pankesh 4-3(5), 4-0 to take the Trophy back to Cheshire.

David Britton, son of the late Jack Britton, presented the Trophy & vouchers to the winner and runner-up.

The event is named after the late Jack Britton, Life President and Past Chairman of Notts LTA and the NLTA League Committee.

Thank you to Jack’s family for their continued support.

The event, which was first held back in 1974, is aimed at non senior county players and gives priority entry to players from Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire and players aged 19 plus.

This year, 13 of the 16 players were from Nottinghamshire or Derbyshire.
