12 Counties Championships 12U Team Report
12U Counties Match report: Boys
It’s been an emotional rollercoaster of an event in Corby today with the 12U Nottinghamshire boys. After a good warm-up they were ready for action.
Our first opponents were Bedfordshire. Kai and Henry were first up on court, with Max and Ethan following on. A few nerves were showing in the first matches but all gave good energy, some great rallies and nice attacking play. The boys managed a 3-1 win against Bedfordshire and were ready to take on their next opponents from Herefordshire & Worcestershire. With a higher level of opponent, the boys had to up their game. This they did, with precision and placement. A few emotional moments when things didn’t always go their way, but they held on tight to fight their way to another 3-1 victory.
Their final opponents were Buckinghamshire. However, this seemed to be more of a struggle with shots not always firing right and emotions running high. We completed the afternoon with a 1-3 loss to Bucks with Max pulling out a 3 match win of the day. Overall, some amazing tennis was played by all four boys and they did us proud with a good attitude and honest play at all times. With Kai and his attacking forehand, Henry’s fast feet and neat vollies, Max’s consistency and placement and Ethan’s down the line winners, they were a credit to the county. Thanks to all parents who came to support.
12U Counties Match report: Girls
The 12 Counties was a great success for the girls today, as they managed to come out on top, by one set, which was solidified by Sithandanzile in the final round against Buckinghamshire.
Both Lucy and Clementine won 3/3 matches without dropping a set, as well as great results from both Sofia and Sithandanzile.
The team had great support throughout their matches and their overall tennis improved more after each match.
Overall, the day was amazing and all four girls played outstanding tennis with positive attitudes, which is demonstrated in their results, as well as their team morale.
